Senselect and Staellium Form Strategic Partnership to deliver StealthText™ self-destruct for Data Protection to Support Compliance of “Non-Persistence of Identity” in eBorder, Health and Security
Washington, D.C., 30 October 2006
Senselect and Staellium announced the formation of a global strategic alliance designed to enable Senselect customers with STEALTH technology that self-destructs information. Senselect will enable the “sender to control” the subsequent access, use and storage of protected data (e.g., Biometric Identities, Health Care Records, Associative Data, Civil or Criminal Records, etc.) thus providing absolute assurance of Non-Persistence of identifying data in cross-border applications such as eBorders and eHealth.
Designed to protect Citizen’s Freedoms, Rights and Privacy, the fusion of Senselect’s High Assurance Biometric Framework (HABF) and STEALTH technologies will enable Government and Commercial entities to improve sharing and identifying of data whilst providing safety, security and privacy assurances to the owner of the data.
Derived from the increased needs for data protection in applications used by authorized personnel in the military, intelligence, law enforcement and health care sectors, Senselect identified the need for the proprietary technology to provide the security of the absolute destruction of email, messages, voice, pictures, or biometric identities (e.g., face, fingers, iris or DNA) that once read or processed, self-destruct in the recipient terminals (e.g., computer memory, handset, mobile biometric terminal or patrol support station). This assurance of Non-Persistence is critical to enable the legal, authorised sharing of information with sources other than that of the originator.
The technology provides solutions to operational problems experienced by systems which process sensitive data such as communication to mobile phones and wireless devices which access medical records or biometric identity, annotated imagery or process-to-process communication where it is imperative that the data not remain resident or be able to be subsequently stored, printed, used, etc. If the device were subsequently lost or stolen, there would be absolute assurance that the sensitive or protected data was no longer resident or capable of being extracted or used.
This solution addresses the exchange and protection of information under the “principles of availability” when applied to:
- Identity Management, especially in eGovernment (including Private Identification
- Numbers (PINs) & Biometrics as means of unique identification)
- eHealth and Patient Records (with special emphasis on 'consent' and 'processing of medical data')
- Archives & Privacy (with special emphasis on 'preservation of data' and 'access')
- Children & Privacy (with special emphasis on exercise of rights)
The integration of “STEALTH” technology into our core High Assurance Biometric Frameworks for eBorders, eHealth, Law Enforcement and Mobile Messaging solutions provides a methodology to ensure that “Persistence of Identity or Protected Data” can not exist, said Russ Davis, COO of Senselect. “We explored a range of solutions that would allow full compliance with Global Data Protection Laws and simultaneously address Citizen’s concerns regarding the potential for abuse of their biometric identities and private data. Staellium’s “STEALTH” technology provided us the necessary world-class solution.
Senselect provides high assurance security middleware which protects the access, use and storage of biometric identities as well as, sensitive personal data.
